Wishing Well

This poem was inspired by the quiet act of entrusting my heart to someone whose words felt like promises, even when their presence could not sustain them. It reflects the fragile hope that love would be honored simply because it was given sincerely, and the slow realization that belief alone cannot keep something from sinking.

I threw my heart in your wishing well

Hoping it would float

Praying that if it were to sink

You’d be its saving boat.

It drifted far and out of reach

A desperate, aching grasp

Yet I smiled, lost in your speech

Ignoring life’s cruel clasp

“Bella, I’m in love with you..”

Sweet words you softly spoke

I let myself believe the dream

That you were all I hoped

I threw my heart in your wishing well

And when it sank below

You left me before I could tell

Leaving it to sorrow’s flow
